    Background

The mixed-use DUO project is pivotal to an extensive development in central Tel Aviv’s Sumail Complex. It is intended to include a new underground train station alongside three commercial buildings, retail space, parks, a large public plaza, and two residential towers. These dual towers will each be 50 stories in height, containing a total of 668 apartments and five underground parking levels, and becoming a striking sight on the Tel Aviv skyline. Electra Building was selected to undertake this complex project by Africa Israel, a major international developer, with Electra Construction acting in partnership with Danya Cebus as the general contractor.

    Our Activities

DUO represents a hugely ambitious undertaking in one of Israel’s busiest locations. The dynamic synergy offered by Electra Building was therefore a significant advantage when planning this complex multi-level project. For example, the matter of site access was of great importance, as the project is located close to two main thoroughfares, as well as the Red Line and Green Line of the new light rail. This required careful advance planning to minimize disruption while ensuring maximum efficiency.

Electra Construction was also tasked with several unique challenges from a building perspective, including the need to construct the parking levels in two stages, partially using the top-down method. In addition, the architectural design required the use of a steel frame as a separate structure to cover the commercial buildings, as well as complex aluminum geometry for the curtain walls and one commercial building.

Electra Elevators will provide this project with 16 high-speed elevators that will serve the residential towers, as well as 12 elevators and 8 sets of escalators that will serve the retail space on their lower floors. The project will also be supplied with 4 special escort and service robots, managed by Electra Elevators. These robots will escort guests and perform delivery errands throughout the towers.
